Come along to Ecological Building System’s premises on the outskirts of Dalston to spend a day learning about Passivhaus buildings. Passivhaus is a German building method which achieves a 75% reduction in space heating requirements compared to standard practice for UK new build, but as importantly offers a high level of occupant comfort. The day will cover; The Principles of Passivhaus; How to achieve Airtightness in a Passivhaus; Passivhaus Windows and MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation & Heat Recovery) We will also be joined by two local companies - Award Winning Architect Andrew Yeats and Timber Frame Company Eden Insulation who have just completed two Passivhaus builds in Cumbria, they will be discussing these projects and describing their build method. We are also fortunate to be joined by Chris Herring, Director of Green Building Store who will be talking about Windows & MVHR for Passivhaus projects. Chris is also currently the Chair of the Passivhaus Trust. The Ecological team will be leading the airtightness session and talking about ecological, diffusion open building materials.
This day is aimed at those considering building their own home who are looking for a low energy, durable and comfortable construction and architects/specifiers.
