Three years ago, Nicole and Tom took on the challenge of transforming a disused school field and tarmac football pitch in the Duddon valley into a Permaculture Demonstration site. They now have 33 productive raised vegetable beds, cut into the tarmac pitch and a forest garden beyond, as well as a polytunnel, pallet construction cold frames, a pond, fire circle and compost zone. They keep ducks and bees and there are also plans to build a timber frame workshop with a living roof in the coming year. As part of the Greenbuild Festival, Laya Point Permaculture invites you to come and see what they have been up to.
